Eight quick tips for tackling the operational risk book:
- Pick up this book last and try to finish it in four weeks.
- Categorize the readings into three different parts. Focus more on the first part as it provides a broad overview of operational risk, and the second part because it is more scoring in the exam.
- Use learning objectives to break down long, text-heavy readings into manageable chunks and to understand what is testable and what is not.
- Enhance your learning by using a diverse set of resources, including YouTube videos.
- Engage with the material as much as possible. Draw flow charts and mind maps, and connect what you’re reading with real-life examples.
- Reinforce your learning using quizzes, which is especially important for the readings on the Basel Accords and RAROC.
- Keep revising what you’ve already learned.
- Focus on high-impact readings, while everything else can be done on a best-efforts basis.
